20 Actors Who Were Almost Cast As The Guardians Of The Galaxy
11. Jim Sturgess
Almost was: Star Lord There's a set of actors who have the calibre to be A-List stars but routinely miss out on major roles. Jim Sturgess, the charmistmatic star of One Day who first emerged in the seriously over-looked, Beatles-inspired Across The Universe, is one such actor; he was in the running to play Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man. Understandably, being even older than the clearly-not-a-teen Andrew Garfield, he missed out. While he may not have been the best human spider, he would have been perfect for Star Lord. Following a set of leading roles in the ambitious Cloud Atlas, Sturgess found himself being considered to play Peter Quill, along with many on this list being gifted with a screen test. Unlike the others, however, Sturgess made it past this stage to become one of the final three for the role. Sturgess was notable as after the casting of Chris Pratt was announced he spoke directly to the press about the auditioning process, amongst other things confirming the Star Wars aesthetic of the film.
