20 Actors Who Were Almost Cast As The Guardians Of The Galaxy

8. Jim Carrey

Almost was: Rocket There was a time when Jim Carrey was the biggest star in the world. That time is not now, which is a shame as since then he's grown a lot as an actor. Whereas Ace Ventura, The Mask and Riddler were all pretty much the same character, his latest efforts show an effort to find comedy in more than just a silly face. The film itself was misjudged, but Kick-Ass 2's Colonel Stars and Stripes is a perfect example of how Carrey'll now work to make something rounded and different. That's why the prospect of him voicing Rocket is particularly exciting. His name was bandered around since early on in casting and we wouldn't have minded hearing his voice come off the screen. Carrey denied rumours at the time, although odds are Marvel discounted him before they asked him to read for the character; they at the very least looked into his availability.
