Almost was: Gamora In Star Trek Rachel Nichols played a green-skinned alien who had a fling with the roguish-but-lovable protagonist, who was also roommates with Zoe Saldana's Uhura. Couple this with the fact that she also auditioned for Gamora and it's all a little too much. The actress, who we're happy to inform doesn't have green-coloured skin in real life, has been playing supporting roles for years, with a recurring appearance in the final season of Alias and the love-interest in 2011's bomb Conan The Barbarian. So clearly a lead role in Guardians would have been a big break through. She auditioned for the role, but couldn't get ahead of the more high profile names who eyed-up the daughter of Thanos (a couple of whom we'll look at later).
