2. Dougray Scott Was Wolverine (For A While)
As the not-at-all-bitter Glenn Danzig confirmed, Hugh Jackman wasn't actually the first choice to play Wolverine, as Bryan Singer has hired Scottish actor Dougray Scott, who enjoyed considerable (and somewhat baffling) high profile at the end of the '90s.
But thanks to Tom Cruise personally hand-picking him to play the bad guy in Mission Impossible II, Scott was forced to pull out citing scheduling conflicts, and Hugh Jackman gratefully accepted the secondary chance to show off his Adamantium claws, for which he claimed he apologised to Scott:
I have spoken to him, I didnt quite have the guts to say thank you, I kind of apologized more to him he said Ah, thats Hollywood, these things happen.
Poor Dougie could have had his career made for him, but it just wasn't to be, all thanks to Tom Cruise. Another thing to add to that particular blame list. But Scott was far from the strangest almost X-Men that we almost got to see...
