20 Actors You Didn't Know Almost Played X-Men

1. Bob Hoskins Was Almost Wolverine

The dearly departed Bob Hoskins inspired one of the greatest alternate casting stories in comic book movie history, and it's thanks to a movie that was ultimately never made. According to X-Men writer Chris Claremont - the man behind Days Of Future Past - before Bryan Singer basically saved the genre, we almost got n X-Men movie produced by James Cameron and directed by Kathryn Bigelow.

It was this film that would have starred Angela Bassett as Storm, and she would have been joined by Hoskins, who had impressed Claremont in Lassiter and who very much fit with the image of Wolverine that Claremont wrote for - the stockier, shorter version who was far from the statuesque hunk of Singer's movies.

Ultimately the film never happened because Stan Lee turned James Cameron onto Spider-Man, which he subsequently tried (and failed) to make.

Which of these actors do you wish had made it into the X-Men movie universe? Share your favourites below in the comments thread.
