6. Craig Roberts
Age: 23Nationality: WelshMost notable role: Oliver (Submarine) The star of the fantastic Submarine, Craig Roberts is a brilliantly likeable and downright hilarious actor, and though 2013's been quiet for him - a dryly funny performance in the otherwise morose Skins: Fire being his highlight - 2014 will hopefully be bigger and better. As of yet, he's only been announced for one film next year, but it is a Seth Rogen comedy; Roberts will no doubt be hoping that he fairs better than Submarine director Richard Ayoade did in his big American debut (the critically panned The Watch). Hopefully though, we'll be seeing Roberts a fair bit on British TV too: what about a role in Doctor Who? Can't be that much of a commute for a Welshman...
5. Sharon Rooney
Age: 24Nationality: ScottishMost notable role: Rae (My Mad Fat Diary) One of the surprise hits of 2013, '90s-set comedy-drama My Mad Fat Diary has averaged over a million viewers in its first series. Star Sharon Rooney has become a critical success, and the show has been given a second series from E4, to be broadcast next year. As well as My Mad Fat Diary though, Rooney is another face will appear in Sherlock's eagerly anticipated third series. A natural of both dry humour and poignance, expect to see Rooney making the odd appearance in a lot more over the coming year; maybe not an A-list star just yet, but certainly one to watch.
