Fred Willard was a comic legend who never saw a weird supporting role he couldn't make weirder, taking memorable parts in mockumentaries such as This Is Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration, and Mascots, and also appearing notably in the Anchorman films.

Willard had smaller roles in near-countless TV shows and movies for over 50 years, becoming a widely recognised face even to those who didn't necessarily know his name. He also worked right up until his death, appearing most recently in Steve Carell's Netflix sci-fi comedy series Space Force.

Willard died of cardiac arrest on May 15 at the age of 86.
