20 Actors Who Just Gave Their Best Performance Ever

10. Edi Gathegi - Superman (2025)

Life of Chuck Mark Hamill
Warner Bros.

To many, Edi Gathegi is still best remembered for playing the supremely badass mutant Darwin in 2011's X-Men: First Class - a potential-rich character who was killed off way too soon.

Gathegi has kept himself busy since in a selection of film and TV roles, though this past summer he got a mulligan at the superhero game when he played Mister Terrific in James Gunn's Superman.

It's a testament to Gathegi's performance that he's able to stand out in such a ludicrously busy ensemble cast, taking a character with the potential to be a total also-ran - a stoic super-genius - and make him a hilarious standout.

Of course he's aided by a terrifically playful script from Gunn, but even so, Gathegi manages to bring a dry hilarity to the superhero while also still making him genuinely warm and likeable in his own way.

It's a trickier balance to pull off than it looks, and yet he makes it seem totally effortless. Needless to say, many are just as excited to see more of him in the impending Superman sequel as they are David Corenswet's Man of Steel himself.
