20 Actors Who Quit Movies For Insane Reasons

13. Tarantino Wouldn't Change The Script - Will Smith (Django Unchained)

I Am Legend Will Smith

Before Jamie Foxx was hired to play the title character in Quentin Tarantino's brilliant Django Unchained, the part was actually offered to Will Smith.

And while few actors are likely to turn down an offer from one of the most celebrated filmmakers in history, Smith indeed walked away from the table after reading the script and having his own suggestions rebuffed.

Smith later revealed that he didn't take to the fact that Django isn't the one to kill villain Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), but rather Django's comrade King Schultz (Christoph Waltz).

Smith added that, as a result, he felt like Django wasn't the true lead of the movie, to the extent that he asked Tarantino to rewrite the script to have Django kill Candie instead.

Unsurprisingly Tarantino didn't acquiesce to this request, and so Smith left negotiations, clearing the path for Foxx to take the part instead.

There doesn't seem to be any regret from Smith, though, who called the film "brilliant... Just not for me."
