As a child, Dakota Fanning burst onto the scene with her performance in I Am Sam as the child of an intellectually disabled man. Several other projects would follow, among them being the 2005 adaptation of The War of the Worlds, the 2006 version of Charlotte's Web and 2009's Push.

Also in 2009, Fanning appeared in The Twilight Saga: New Moon as Jane, a member of the Volturi who can torture others with her thoughts. She would reprise the role for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, released the following year, and for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, which premiered two years after that.
