20 Alien Easter Eggs You Never Noticed

18. Mirrors Were Used To Double The Number Of Hypersleep Capsules - Aliens

When the Marines and Ripley awaken from hypersleep, James Cameron and his production team did an absolutely fantastic job of conveying the scale of the room, and there's never any doubt that what's being seen is 12 hypersleep capsules on the Sulaco. Each capsule cost $4,300 to build, and as such budgetary constraints only allowed the set dressers to build six capsules, resulting in mirrors being used at the end of the capsule line to give the visual impression that there are twice as many in the room. It's one of the simpler but more brilliantly effective tricks in the whole movie, yet is at its most obvious when Sgt. Alpone parades along the capsules to pep the crew up. Even so, you really need to be looking for this one to catch it.
