17. Ron Perlman Breaks Character When Sigourney Weaver Nails The Basketball Shot - Alien: Resurrection
One of the more memorable moments in Alien: Resurrection occurs when Ripley spars with the mercenaries and, at the end of the exchange, sinks a basketball from half-court without even looking at the net. In the shot, the ball disappears out of the frame before landing in the net, causing many to assume that a stage hand had simply dropped the ball into the net to give the impression that Weaver herself did it. However, the truth is that Weaver was given basketball training for two weeks, and genuinely sunk the shot on set. What's most incredible is that, after director Jean-Pierre Jeunet was concerned that she'd blow countless takes to get the shot right, she nailed it on her first try, causing an astounded Ron Perlman (visible in the background) to break character and turn towards the frame. Thankfully, Perlman gave the editors enough room to cut the shot before he turned his face completely to the camera and started laughing, though in the final few frames of the shot, his face has visibly turned back to the frame in utter astonishment.
