20. Best Straight-To-Video Movie - Stretch

Joe Carnahan's $5m passion project is destined for cult status, with the plot following Patrick Wilson's title character, a failed actor turned limo driver who finds himself in way over his head during the course of one wildly escalating night in Los Angeles, featuring a solid supporting cast including Ed Helms, Jessica Alba and an almost unrecognizable Chris Pine, not to mention brilliant cameos from Ray Liotta and David Hasselhoff. The movie deftly blends elements of the action, comedy and thriller genres to provide an exciting, often hilarious and sometimes downright weird crime story that sees Carnahan free from studio interference and able to deliver his most creative effort yet.

Runner Up - Ninja: Shadow Of A Tear

Every year the straight-to-video market is flooded with countless low-budget action movies, the overwhelming majority of which are mediocre at best. However, director Isaac Florentine and star Scott Adkins are two of the more talented names working in the field, and their sixth collaboration is by far the best yet. Although Shadow of a Tear follows a hugely derivative revenge plot, the movie is elevated by a series of expertly-choreographed fight scenes and a strong lead performance from Adkins, who possesses both the martial arts skills and natural charisma to potentially replace Jason Statham as Britain's premiere action export, with a much more convincing American accent to boot.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
