8. Cliff & Cydney Are Serial Killers - A Perfect Getaway
Don't sleep on A Perfect Getaway, a tight little thriller that seems to be a very typical genre offering but ultimately has quite the clever ace up its sleeve.
Newlyweds Cliff and Cydney (Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich) head to Hawaii for their honeymoon and soon enough become entangled with two other couples, all while tensions rise over a recent double-murder on the island.
Basically, the audience is led to believe that one of the other two couples is a pair of psychopathic killers, and considering these four suspects are played by Timothy Olyphant, Kiele Sanchez, Chris Hemsworth, and Marley Shelton, they certainly fit the bill casting-wise. However, midway through the film we learn that the killers are actually Cliff and Cydney themselves, who killed the real Cliff and Cydney and assumed their identities.
More to the point, they're meth addict serial killers who commit murders to assume their victims' identities.
The marketing for A Perfect Getaway did a fantastic job of painting Cliff and Cydney as our virtuous heroes, such that the big reveal in the final film is a genuinely jaw-dropping moment.
