You're Next is a ludicrously entertaining 2011 slasher film which impressively grossed $27 million on a mere $1 million budget, and instantly established protagonist Erin (Sharni Vinson) as one of the most badass Final Girls of the 21st century.

Its grimly amusing ending certainly left the door open for a sequel, though 15 years later it still hasn't materialised, and despite enthusiasm from director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett, it seems like both have basically accepted that it's never happening.

Last year, Barrett straight-up revealed their idea for You're Next 2, which would've picked up with Erin being arrested and blamed for all the deaths in the first film.

While being transported in a prison van, the vehicle would be attacked by a returning Lamb Mask (L.C. Holt), forcing Erin and the other prisoners she's chained with to seek refuge inside a meth lab, where they desperately set a series of traps to fend off their assailants.

That... sounds awesome, frankly, but Barrett insisted his relief that they didn't make it, claiming it would only make fans like the first film less.
