20 Awesome Movies You Didn't Know Were Still Coming In 2020

This long-gestating sequel to the classic 1988 hit Eddie Murphy comedy vehicle Coming to America sees former Prince Akeem Joffer (Eddie Murphy) heading back to America when he discovers that he has a son in New York, Lavelle (Jermaine Fowler), who is the rightful heir to Zamunda's throne.

Rare though it is that belated comedy sequels actually work, the recent success of Bill & Ted Face the Music at least proves that it can be done when the original cast makes an enthusiastic return while the script considers how the world has changed in the intervening years.

With the overwhelming majority of the original cast returning, with a script co-penned by original writer Barry W. Blaustein, and directing duties being undertaken by Craig Brewer (Dolemite Is My Name), there's plenty to be optimistic about here.

With rumours swirling that Paramount is planning to sell the movie to a VOD platform like Netflix in the coming months, we could very well see Coming 2 America on small screens even sooner than its planned December theatrical release.

Coming 2 America is due for release on December 18th.
