20 Best Comedy Film Sequels Of All-Time

8. Wayne's World 2

The Wayne's World movies seem a little out of time when you revisit them nowadays, but that isn't to say that they're not still rather hilarious. The first flick is often seen as one of Mike Myers' best movies, but its follow-up - the obviously titled Wayne's World 2 - also holds a reputation for being a comedy sequel of the worthwhile kind. The biggest draw towards Wayne's World as a comedic franchise is, essentially, its surprising heart. There's a certain innocence about Wayne and best friend Garth (played by Dana Carvey) that makes them endlessly endearing to watch. Whilst Wayne's World 2 is more intent on delivering gags than cementing the relationship between its two leads, that sense of warmth still remains, which helps to prevent Wayne's World 2 from feeling like a cash-in. In his review of the movie, Roger Ebert - presumably for that reason - declared Wayne's World 2 "impossible to dislike," and he's right: it's a playful movie with good intentions. There's a sense that, for all its standings as a sequel, it wants you to get your money's worth. Plus, that Charlton Heston gag remains entirely timeless.
