More than holding her own against the buffoons and macho men that make up her Guardians of the Galaxy teammates, Gamora is every bit as rounded and vital to the team as anyone else in it. What could have been so easily a dumb eye candy/love interest role is elevated by the tough-yet-vulnerable performance from Zoe Saldana and the rich backstory which precedes her (you know, that Thanos guy).
Even Marvel Studios seemed to underestimate the greatness of Gamora, the distinct lack of Gamora merchandise causing quite the commotion following the film's release. Gamora will return in 2017 for the inevitable and highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy sequel - and early trailers to which suggest she'll have plenty to do. Better stock up on that Gamora merch, Marvel.
