20 Best Female Characters In Comic Book Movies - Ranked

13. Amanda Waller

Comic Book Females
Warner Bros.

Who's the most sinister villain in Suicide Squad? Deadshot? Harley Quinn? The Joker, surely? No, the scariest of the lot is Viola Davis's Amanda Waller; the government official who puts the team together in the first place. And, ultimately, jails them again at the end.

Suicide Squad is a deeply, deeply flawed movie, but it nailed the character of Amanda Waller (give or take a few pounds) - a cold, often cruel suit who will stop at nothing to get results. It's even more admirable when one considers that the potentially apocalypse-rending horror at the centre of it all was essentially her fault, and that the Squad were utilised only for her own rescue. Waller is almost comically mean and selfish, whether it's murdering a room full of mooks in cold blood, or callously locking up the very people responsible for saving her life, with only an espresso machine for their trouble.

All that, and still home in time for a post-credits sequence with Batman.
