Netflix has a fairly patchy record for releases - for every Adam Sandler release there's a little gem, and the move to release films like Okja offers a lot of promise for the platform's future. As does the wordily titled I Don't Feel At Home In This World Anymore, actor Macon Blair's debut as a film-maker.

Judging by this, he's going to be bringing a rich vein of wacky, stylish violence to the industry. It is incredibly violent, helped by Netflix's less vigorous censorship, no doubt, but there's a heartful, deft balance. It's easily one of the best indie films released this decade so far and it's further proof that Elijah Wood is a far, far more talented actor than he is ever given credit for. When he's combined with darker material, everyone reaps the benefits.

When their exclusive releases are as good as this, you can almost forgive the fact that Netflix keep shrinking their overall library. Almost.
