20 Best Horror Movies Of 2021

8. V/H/S/94

The Night House
Shudder

The long-dormant V/H/S franchise made a shocking return to form last year with V/H/S/94, which sees the horror anthology franchise finding a snug new home for itself on streaming service Shudder.

Arguably the very best of all four V/H/S films, this is an impressively consistent effort given the standards of most horror anthologies, presenting a diverse and dynamic platter of f**ked up stories from the gory to the sublimely creepy.

Leaning into its grotty VHS aesthetic and clearly having fun milking the '90s nostalgia for every drop they're worth, V/H/S 94 is an easy win for fans of retro horror, and worth watching alone for Timo Tjahjanto's insane segment "The Subject," which delivers impressively creative body horror on a budget.

Hopefully the rave reviews have renewed general interest in the franchise, because it'd be great to see V/H/S become an annual horror streaming staple.
