20 Best Horror Movies Of 2021

17. Silent Night

Camille Griffin's blackly comedic directorial debut Silent Night is absolutely a horror film best watched with little knowledge of its wider plot or characters, so we'll keep this vague.

The film centers around a family gathering for Christmas, all while a global calamity looms and threatens to wipe out the entire human race.

At once a comedy about dysfunctional families, an unhinged Christmas movie, and a bleak horror flick, Silent Night is one of the most tonally adventurous "holiday movies" released over the last few years.

The cast is an embarrassment of riches, frankly, counting among its number Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Roman Griffin Davis, Lily-Rose Depp, and Lucy Punch, all of who deliver prickly-yet-relatable characters that audiences are sure to pinpoint versions of within their own families.

If you're craving a film with an oppressively suffocating atmosphere - all in spite of its yuletide theme, no less - look no further.
