20 Best Indie Movies Of 2015

15. 45 Years

45 Years
Artificial Eye
After the success of his 2011 movie Weekend, which charted the burgeoning relationship between two gay men over the course of a weekend, Andrew Haigh returns to the realm of relationships with 45 Years, this time examining the twilight years of a married couple whose relationship is challenged by new information about their past. The drama in 45 Years is subdued to the point of becoming almost glacial, lending the film an authentic feeling in which the every day mannerisms of the elderly couple comes across as completely naturalistic. It certainly helps that the couple are played by Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtney, two of Britain's finest actors who are clearly relishing the opportunity to sink their teeth into such compelling characters. Rampling and Courtney both picked up awards at the Berlin International Film Festival and if you're a fan of actors working at the highest calibre then 45 Years is a must-see movie.

Andrew Dilks hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
