After all, a fingerprint scanner is that thing you use to unlock your iPhone, isn't it? In 1971 however, a computerised database of fingerprints at your disposal was the thing of science-fiction. It's big, clunky, and has lots of flashing lights, which is perhaps the art department's way of reminding us that this thing is definitely cutting-edge.
