20 Best James Bond Gadgets

14. Stuffed Duck Wet Suit (Goldfinger)

Okay, so this one isn't exactly the most sophisticated or technologically impressive of all Bond's gadgets, but it does deserve its place on the list thanks to its backstory. The opening scene from Goldfinger, in which Bond emerges from the water and plants explosives in an enemy compound, then reveals a perfectly crisp tuxedo beneath his wetsuit, is in fact based on a true story. The scene was - allegedly - penned by British scriptwriter Paul Dehn, a senior intelligence officer during the war. As the story goes, Dehn was inspired by a real life MI6 operation in which a Dutch operative emerged from the water in a wetsuit, then attempted to infiltrate a German headquarters by revealing a similarly dapper evening suit hidden beneath. But yes, Bond did look silly with the duck on his head. We admit that.
