20 Best Looking Movies Since 2000
17. The Grand Budapest Hotel
Wes Anderson is a director with a unique sense of style, emphasizing a degree of unity to his compositions and carefully considered complimentary colours to a degree which few other directors are able to match.
Anderson's twenty-first century output has been prolific, and many of his movies are worthy of consideration for a list of the best looking movies this century, but The Grand Budapest Hotel is perhaps the perfect summation of his visual style. Utilising different aspect ratios to represent different timelines and a host of quirky cinematic effects including some exception miniature work, it's full of beautifully inventive imagery.
The Grand Budapest Hotel is also one of Anderson's most fun movies to watch, with a truly hilarious performance from Ralph Fiennes as M. Gustave, concierge to the titular hotel who sets out to clear his name after being wrongly accused of murder.
