While Jurassic World might have broken box-office records, the overall reaction was still mixed. The annoying, one-dimensional characters - seriously, those kids are the absolute worst - and the numerous plot holes spoiled the fun for a lot of people; the relentless nostalgia-baiting and bizarrely mean-spirited death of Bryce Dallas Howards assistant didnt help either. While the movie wont get high marks for intelligence - at all - sometimes the sheer dumbness worked in the movie's favour. Case in point, the four-way dinosaur smackdown in the finale, which feels like the live action version of a ten-year-old boy playing with his Jurassic Park toys. The scene starts with the Indominus Rex fighting off the Raptors (with a little help from Chris Pratt) before the T-Rex gets tagged in. She does most of the hard work beating the I. Rex into submission before the Mosasaurus swoops in at the last moment to steal all the glory. Jurassic World could feel quite smug and cynical at times, but the sheer giddy fun of this final encounter helped redeem it a little.
