The Gunman was Sean Penns stab at launching his own Taken style franchise, but the po-faced thriller failed to find much love with an audience. Penn clearly invested a lot of time down the gym for the role, because hes not shy about strutting around shirtless whenever he can. His impressive physique comes into play for the final fight, where his retired gunman fights off an assassin. The two trade shots before the knifes come out literally - for a close quarters battle in the brutal Krav Maga style. Skin is sliced and eyes are gouged, and the rapid editing gives the scene a vicious quality as they hack pieces off each other. While the majority of The Gunman was clunky and dull, this last-minute punch-up gave people a glimpse of the film they thought they were going to see.
