Ant-Man probably isnt the superhero most kids would aspire to be if theyre playing Avengers in the schoolyard hes gonna get picked last yet the movie turned out better than it had a right too. It wisely embraced the silliness of the concept, while making Ant-Mans powers look kind of cool. The scene that best showed off his abilities was the end battle with weak sauce villain Yellow Jacket, where they turn a child's bedroom into a battleground. Its tough to take a fight scene on top of a model of Thomas The Tank Engine seriously, yet the fight manages to balance the right level of humour and action to keep people excited. Most Marvel movies descend into a mess of CGI explosions for their finales, so at least Ant-Man managed to find something inventive to do for the showdown. Ant-Man isnt the best Marvel has to offer, but at least it shows theyre starting to experiment a bit.
