Kristen Stewart has been on an interesting path since Twilight, choosing diverse projects but not always the right ones. With Personal Shopper, though, she's found a perfect mix of director and script, and it results in the best performance of her career.

Stewart plays Maureen, a personal shopper for a celebrity, and a woman who has recently lost the brother she was close to. It explores what that loss means through her supposed connection to the spiritual world, offers something that is both a ghost story and a powerful meditation on grief and suffering.

Stewart is captivating in the role as she becomes increasingly rooted in the idea of an afterlife and haunted by something that cannot be seen, and the movie is at turns scary and a little silly, but constantly full of tension - including one of the most gripping uses of text messaging you'll see - and strangely affecting in what it has to say about 'what lies beyond'.
