15. Triangle Of Sadness
Not a single solitary soul would ever dare to call Ruben Östlund's latest satire subtle, but by going all-in with a sledgehammer approach, Triangle of Sadness mines tremendous amusement from its class warfare premise.
Despite a beefy 147-minute runtime, Östlund's eye for captivating imagery, combined with a plot that continually switches things up, sustains it easily.
Again, few are going to learn something they didn't know before watching it, but the blackly comedic means through which Östlund tackles his subject matter - complete with more free-flowing bodily fluids than anyone ever needs to see - makes it an absolute WTF laugh riot of a movie.
The ensemble cast crackles, especially Harris Dickinson, Woody Harrelson, Dolly de Leon, and the tragically late Charlbi Dean, who showed so much promise on the strength of her performance here.
With his latest, Östlund reaffirms his tireless gift for delivering blunt, cutting satire that takes no prisoners.
