9. The Incredibles

Avengers Endgame
Disney

The single greatest Fantastic Four movie ever created, even if they do cheat a little by adding a fifth member. A deliciously dark take on the superhero movie, the film manages to have its cake and eat it too, making fun of many of the traits of the genre while also fully embracing them in some great action sequences.

Following a number of legal suites from angry citizens who were unwillingly 'helped', all superheroes are banned from the city of Metroville. The first act brings us inside the dull day to day routine that The Incredibles, the family of Mr Incredible and Elasta-Girl, have found themselves in. While the latter has adapted to her role as stay at home Mum, poor old Mr Incredible is permanently struggling with his meaningless office job.

Events take a turn when Mr Incredible is chosen by a mystery client to complete a task only suitable for a superhero. As his wife slowly unravels what her husband has been up to, a grand conspiracy is uncovered that will threaten the Incredible family and the citizens of Metroville.

While the film takes a little while to get going, the action scenes featuring all members of the Incredible family are truly incredible. From son Dash's super speed that allows him to run on water to Elasta-Girl beating up villains despite being trapped in several different rooms, the ability to fuse comedy with great action works perfectly throughout.
