20 BEST Movies On Disney+

4. Wall-E

Avengers Endgame
Disney Pixar

Produced in the middle of Pixar's creative hot streak, WALL-E rightfully takes the mantle as the best ever Pixar film, and probably the best animated film ever. Part Sci-Fi, part Rom-Com and part environmental allegory, this is Pixar at its bravest and best. The opening act is a perfect example of actions over dialogue, with not a single word spoken, yet so much to be said.

The action begins on a post apocalyptic Earth where a Waste Allocation Load-Lifter (Earth Class), otherwise known as WALL-E, has its life turned upside down with the arrival of an Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator, or EVE for short. The loveably geeky WALL-E falls instantly in love, but the strong willed take no nonsense EVE very much plays hard to get.

The cracking pace of the film continues when the adventure moves to space, the reveal of the overweight remains of human existence poignantly funny. The reveal of the true villain late in the piece comes as a genuine surprise, with WALL-E and EVE trying in earnest to save the day.

The film has a heck of a lot to say, but the focus on creating a fun and engaging film always remains front and centre. There are too many great comic moments to name them all here, including every scene featuring the Cockroach, but the obese Human Captain's 'run' to the title tune of 2001: A Space Odyssey is freaking hilarious.
