20 BEST Movies On Disney+

2. Return Of The Jedi

Avengers Endgame
Lucasfilm

This criminally underrated gem bizarrely failed to receive the acclaim of its predecessors, despite being an overall improved product. The film serves as both an epic conclusion to the trilogy and a great standalone story, thanks to a great sense of fun and the best action sequences of the franchise. While the Ewoks often come in for criticism from those not so endeared with the film, they are but one part of a movie that offers so, so much.

A mission to save Han Solo from the vulgar Jabba the Hut kicks off proceedings, Luke displaying the completion of his journey to fully accredited Jedi. The second act sets us up for the epic finale to come, scenes involving C3PO being mistaken as a God some of the funniest scenes from the franchise.

The climax is the single greatest in cinematic history, the action switching between three equally as engaging scenes. Billy Dee Williams is amazing as Lando Calrissian, his energy keeping us engaged in moments where the rebel forces are just trying to stay alive. The action sequences on Endor has its share of twists and turns, the Ewoks causing a timely distraction before Chewbaca finally gets his moment in the Sun.

But it is the incredible battle between the Emperor and the Skywalker boys that is the biggest highlight, Mark Hamill delivering a career best performance. The final light saber battle between Darth and Luke is truly gripping, a fitting finale for this ultimate battle between good and evil.

While he likes to know himself as the 'thunder from down under', Luke is actually just a big dork who loves all things sport, film, James Bond, Doctor Who and Karaoke. With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
