Though Jim Carrey's iconic starmaking 1994 comedy received mixed notices from critics, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was a massive hit with audiences, and releasing in the same year as both The Mask and Dumb and Dumber, it cemented Carrey's meteoric ascent to mega-stardom.

Mere months before Courteney Cox struck it big with Friends, she co-starred in the caper comedy as Melissa Robinson, a publicist for the Miami Dolphins who hires Carrey's title character to track down the team's stolen dolphin mascot.

Though Ace Ventura is totally The Jim Carrey Show, Cox is nevertheless effortlesssly appealing as Ace's love interest, and bolstered her Hollywood cred shortly before she became a household name in the world of TV.

While not all elements of the movie have aged particularly well - namely the casual-yet-aggressive transphobia - it's still a classic of Carrey's oeuvre.
