Of the four Stephen King movies released in 2017, two of them went straight to Netflix, and the one that nobody's talking about, despite being pretty damn great, is the Thomas Jane-starring 1922.

Based on King's novella of the same name, 1922 has been deemed a rare King movie to out-do the source material, elevating its grim, period horror plot with sharp visuals and a fantastic Thomas Jane performance.

Jane, no stranger to appearing in King adaptations, just might turn in career-best work here, as a man slowly losing his grip on his own sanity, in a movie that benefits immensely from its slow-burn approach and more minimalist thrills.

If you're craving obnoxious jump scares there are far "better" movies, but for something with a little more staying power, 1922 is just the ticket.
