Alfonso Cuarón's Best Picture hopeful lives up to the immense awards buzz, telling a deceptively simple story set across a period backdrop of enormous personal meaning to the director.

First-time actor Yalitza Aparicio gives a jaw-dropping performance as put-upon maid Cleo, in an emotionally shattering yet admirably restrained drama held together by Cuarón's eye-wateringly sharp cinematography.

Featuring at least two all-timer scenes and overflowing with love for the human experience in all of its horror and its joy, Roma is one of the year's best.

That everyone could stream it day one without having to wait for a limited theatrical roll-out is just the icing on the cake.

And who knows, could Roma end up Netflix's first ever Best Picture winner? Fingers crossed.
