The Coen brothers' western anthology film didn't reach its full potential by any means, but it was nevertheless one of the most endearingly odd Netflix Originals released in 2018.

With stunningly picturesque cinematography which begs to be viewed in 4K, a ludicrously enviable cast, great music and the Coens' signature penchant for black comedy, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs captures just enough of the iconic duo's signature cinematic magic.

It's wildly uneven as most anthologies are, but even at its worst, it's propped up by a top-drawer cast and some of the year's most breathtaking visuals.

The fact that the Coens' worst movie in almost 15 years can still be this watchable is nothing if not a testament to their insane consistency as filmmakers.
