20 Best Netflix Original Movies Of 2018 - Ranked
13. To All The Boys I've Loved Before
Netflix reinforced their commitment to bank-rolling a diverse slate of original content with this peppy adaptation of Jenny Han's 2014 novel, which while thoroughly predictable and perhaps too cutesy for some tastes, benefited enormously from a talented ensemble.
Led by X-Men: Apocalypse's Lana Condor, To All The Boys I've Loved Before works through the usual high school coming-of-age rom-com beats with an uncommon level of charm and intelligence, with Condor giving a star-making performance in the bargain (sorry, X-Men).
The big surprise here, however, is how damn good it looks. Most of Netflix's comedy content sadly looks flat and over-lit, yet Michael Fimognari's lensing is gorgeously crisp and meticulously composed.
This is familiar material executed with easy panache, and sometimes that's enough.
