20 Best Performances In MCU History (So Far)
12. Chadwick Boseman - T'Challa/Black Panther
The late, great Chadwick Boseman left behind a formidable legacy when he passed away in 2020, the crowning achievement of which is surely his empowering portrayal of Wakandan king T'Challa in the MCU.
First seen in Captain America: Civil War as the vengeful son of the recently murdered king, Black Panther initially acts as a supporting player in the film's overarching story, learning slowly to accept his loss and move on as the leader his father would have wanted him to be.
In Black Panther itself, Boseman's performance is even more powerful, this time portraying the troubled king as a morally conflicted soul caught between his father's legacy and Wakanda's relationship with the rest of the world.
With inspiring commitment, rousing speeches and intimidating physicality, Boseman brought poise, charm, and moral integrity to one of the franchise's most important characters, and the fact that he did it all whilst secretly battling cancer only makes his performance that much more affecting.
