16. High Life
You would be forgiven for having not heard of this one, as it pretty much slipped by back in 2019.
But fret not, I'm going to tell you how good it is, and then you should go and watch it.
Sci-fi horror lends itself well to the "cabin fever" style of story (as evidenced by a few more in this list), with High Life being right up there with them.
What makes this film different than it being about say, a bunch of explorers or good-natured scientists, is that the crew are all convicts.
Sent up as guinea pigs under the guidance of a just-as-bad-if-not-worse doctor, Robert Pattinson and his fellow cons are at the mercy of Juliette Binoche's Dr. Dibs.
Oh, and the looming threat of a very real black hole, which can and will do very bad things to you if you get too close.
Betrayals, murders, it's all in here, as well as a story that involves researching the vast unknown that space has to offer.
Considering the futuristic setting, it really shows man at its most primal state. An ironic desire to survive whilst exploring the dangerous reaches of space.
