20 Best Selling Blu-Rays Of All Time

5. Star Trek

Total Copies Sold: 3,942,177 The best non-Star-Wars Star Wars film before Guardians Of The Galaxy came along, the success of the 2009 reboot of Star Trek would have surprised Gene Roddenberry himself. Weaned on Lucas and Spielberg, J.J. Abrams had never been a massive fan of Star Trek and was thus the perfect person to break that niggling odd-number curse. The film was only a moderate success at the box office, but for a series that had long been the epitome of geek it was the best by far (even accounting for inflation). Where it really showed legs was on home video, where it miraculously managed to shift almost four million Blu-Rays. Quite how we have no idea. Of course, many Trekkies would like to point out this isn't really Star Trek. It may have the Enterprise and the crew and even Leonard Nimoy, but this chic reboot is viewed by die-hards as a departure from the core ethos of Trek. While they have some point (it's much more about space action than sci-fi morals), it all strikes of pettiness following their niche becoming mainstream.
