20 Biggest Mistakes In The DCEU So Far

14. Jonathan Kent's Pointless Death (Man Of Steel)

One of the emotional lynchpins of Superman's character is the death of his adoptive father Jonathan Kent, which is most commonly by way of a heart attack, hammering home the point being that even Clark cannot save everyone.

Man of Steel went in a totally different direction, though, with Pa Kent getting caught in the middle of a tornado, and insisting that Clark not reveal his superhuman abilities to save him, allowing himself to die instead.

Though it's a superbly acted scene, the logic feels rather off, considering how quickly Clark could've saved his dad without anyone noticing, especially during the mayhem of a tornado. The point is to show how committed Jonathan was to ensuring his son wasn't made a spectacle of, but it's just not that plausible that Clark wouldn't rescue him regardless.
