20 Biggest Things The Harry Potter Movies Left Out
4. Percy The Turncoat
In The Book
Having graduated Hogwarts, Percy Weasley became a Ministry employee, first working under Barty Crouch Sr and then Cornelius Fudge, taking his line on the return of Voldemort and causing a rift between him and his family. His pride later stopped any reconciliation until he finally turned up for the Battle Of Hogwarts, repentant and just in time to watch his brother die.
In The Film
Percy is just a little aloof rather than being the monster-in-training he becomes in the books, and while he is shown as one of Fudge's supporters, he didn't become his Junior Assistant and there's no mention of him defecting from his family at all. He just gradually sort of disappears from the films.
Was It A Positive Cut?
Having a Weasley - the strongest of all wizarding families - ripped apart by an ideological split was a great element of the books, and it was a major shame it was cut, even if Percy felt like he never quite belonged to the family.
