20 Brilliant Mind-F*ck Movies

19. Fight Club

One of the most famous cinematic brain-fiddlers if David Fincher€™s cult classic Fight Club, adapted from Chuck Palahniuk€™s equally unsettling novel of the same name. It€™s a movie that messes with you to the extent that you€™re not even sure of Ed Norton€™s character€™s name come the time the credits role.

Brad Pitt€™s Tyler Durden is the catalyst for this chaos, and he begins by flashing up in the background for an odd frame here and there before he€™s formally introduced. The soap-maker's quest is to unravel The Narrator€™s flack-packed, mass-produced IKEA lifestyle, and the capitalist system that enables it.

With Fight Club, you come for the brutal punch-ups, but stay for the intriguing characters and the blurred lines of reality. Where does Tyler end and The Narrator begin? Is any of it real? Perhaps we€™ll never know.
