20 Comic Book Movies That Are Practically Flawless

Directed by Frank Miller and based on his own same-named comic series, Sin City had no right working as well as it did, what with its twisting nonlinear narrative, unconventional black-and-white aesthetic, packed cast, and disturbing violence.

But work it did, offering audiences a tale of weathered lawmen, serial killers, criminals and monsters whose journeys constantly circle and overlap each other in increasingly shocking ways.

To date, Sin City looks like no other comic book movie, its macabre appearance and fantastical characters easily setting it apart from its many counterparts. And that's without getting into the cast, which includes Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Benicio del Toro, Mickey Rourke, Brittany Murphy and Elijah Wood, to name just a few.

Watching like the comic book come to life, Sin City is not a film for everyone, but is surely one of the genre's most literal and daring adaptations.
