20 Coolest Tracking Shots In Movie History
17. Touch Of Evil
Tracking shots have been around almost as long as movies themselves, and there are some classic productions which feature this technique as impressively as contemporary offerings. One great example comes at the beginning of Orson Welles's gripping thriller Touch Of Evil.
After establishing the planting of a time bomb in a car with a smooth tracking shot following the culprit, Welles switches subjet and tracks the occupants as the drive through the streets of Tijuana, leading up to the point where the device detonates. It's Hitchcockian in its cinematic purity and justly remembered as one of the finest shots in cinema history.
