If you're settling down to watch Ronin, John Frankenheimer's thriller starring Robert De Niro, expecting a taut and complex narrative to untangle at your leisure then chances are you'll be disappointed. But what Ronin lacks in narrative and character complexity in spite of its ambitions it more than makes up for in car chases. Director Frankenheimer deliberately eschewed the computer graphics which could have been used to enhance his car chases and goes down the traditional route - the results are some of the best car chases of all time, as dozens of vehicles hurtle through the streets of Paris and Nice. It's the Paris chase which stands out though, as countless traffic and pedestrians desperately try to get out of the way of the action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxxH0lZSYgU
