Time for a moment of honesty - no one really remembers the plot to Bullitt. The car chase, on the other hand, has gone down as one of the most influential in the history of cinema, setting the standard by which all others would be measured for years to come. Having the iconic Steve McQueen in the driver's seat certainly helped boost the coolness of the chase, and it's not at all surprising that the Ford Mustang soon became the car to own following on from the film's release.
