20 Craziest Car Chases In Movie History

18. Gone In 60 Seconds (1974)

Few movies in the history of cinema sit as comfortably into the "car chase movie" sub-genre than the original 1974 version of Gone in 60 Seconds. The brainchild of H. B. "Toby" Halicki, who wrote, produced, directed and starred in the film, it's famous for its epic 40 minute car chase in which nearly 100 cars were destroyed. Halicki's idea of a screenplay - more a collection of loose notes on key dialogue scenes than a proper script - might have caused a few headaches for the editor, but with a film primarily concerned with racing cars and pile-ups the plot is the last thing on the audience's mind. Trying to spot the difference between the stunts and real accidents is no end of fun - Gone in 60 Seconds is about as brainless as entertainment comes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMz3g1x75pU
